White Sands National Monument-Holloman Air Force Base, NM

White Sands National Monument is a spectacular expanse of white sands and dunes.  It is located near the site of the explosion of the first atomic bomb.  The Visitor Center is a beautiful example of Spanish Pueblo Revival architecture constructed during the Great Depression.

Hours:  7am-10pm (summer); 7am- one-half hour after sunset (winter)

Admission:  $4/vehicle; $2/person
