Pecos National Historical Park-Pecos, New Mexico

Large mounds, stone and adobe ruins and stroed kivas can be found in the Pecos National Historical Park.  The pueblo was an important center for trade between Pueblo farmers and the nomadic Plains Indians.

In 1621 the first mission complext was built, which housed the largest New Mexico mission churches.  The mission declined in the 18th century and the remaining Pecos Indians settled in Jemez Pueblo, where many of their descendents live today.
